CLIENT: Freelance (2016)
SCOPE: Photography
I took photographs for industrial skateboard sports involves capturing the raw energy of urban skating while emphasising the gritty, architectural backdrops that define the sport’s aesthetic.
The visual composition should balance dynamic movement with the industrial environment—using elements like concrete ramps, metal railings, and urban textures to frame the action. A high-contrast, cinematic colour palette with deep shadows and sharp highlights can enhance the intensity of the shots.
Wide-angle and low-angle perspectives add drama, emphasising the skater’s speed and skill. Motion blur or freeze-frame techniques can highlight key tricks, while creative lighting—such as artificial lights casting long shadows—can add depth and mood. The goal is to merge the rebellious spirit of skateboarding with the structural beauty of industrial spaces, creating bold, high-impact imagery that resonates with the sport’s culture.
